David Chidley International Business Development Manager
David's previous career in business travel provided a strong foundation for advising companies on international employee benefits.

A former business owner in the travel sector until the pandemic struck, Dave uses his international nous to advise clients on global schemes.

Main responsibilities:

Working with our international business clients to help put in place, or review, their global benefits package.

Why did you join?

After spending my whole professional life in the travel industry, culminating in owning my own travel business, a worldwide pandemic which decimated my business made me want to pursue a career in another more Covid resistant industry! Fortunately, the wonderful people at Engage gave me a chance in the exciting world of international employee benefits and I have spent the last year learning about international insurance from some of the best and most respected people in the industry.

What do you like most about the company?

It is a great, young, dynamic company with a focused leadership team and a growing team of fun, bright, and enthusiastic employees. It is a pleasure to come into our new offices in the centre of Brighton and spend the day (and the occasional evening) with everyone.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

I like to see a job through from the inception to conclusion, and this role allows this to happen. From the initial enquiry and working together with the client, right through to finding the best solution for their business and implementing the plan for their employees – gives an immense sense of satisfaction.

What’s your favourite workplace perk?

Definitely the rather cool beer fridge we make use of on a Friday evening comes to mind! However, I should say the free fruit we have in our kitchen…

Any hobbies?

I am a big fan of Brighton and Hove Albion, following home and away for many years (through thick and mainly thin!). I am a massive music fan and try to see a gig every couple of weeks (being based in Brighton is perfect for that) and attending a couple of festivals each year with friends (and now my nine-year-old son – who also loves a festival!).

Favourite band/artist?

Too many to mention! I have a very eclectic taste in music. However, if pushed I would say The Specials, Nick Cave, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Pulp, The Who and the Pet Shop Boys.

Any guilty pleasures music wise?

I have several of my work colleagues joining me on a night out to go and see a musical guilty pleasure – Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer. He is a Chap Hop artist – who raps about good manners, sophistication and cricket whilst playing his banjolele. Check him out and see what my workmates are going to endure, SORRY, enjoy!

Favourite film?

Two oldies but goodies… Happy Gilmore and The Commitments
